Rabies Death – Dr. Graham Fry Talks to Claire Byrne on RTE Radio

In June 2025, a British woman died from rabies after she was scratched by a puppy in Morocco. As a result, there are increased concerns among tourists travelling abroad about the risk of rabies.

Yvonne Ford, 59, from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, had “light contact” with the stray dog while on holiday in February in the North African country. Mrs Ford was diagnosed with rabies after returning to the UK. She died on 11 June.

Dr. Graham Fry, Medical Director of the Tropical Medical Bureau was invited to speak with Claire Byrne on her RTE Radio 1 show to discuss what causes rabies and how it can be prevented.
